Batteries: this is how they are stealing in the name of D1 stores

The D1 stores, one of the low-cost supermarket chains in Colombia, denounced that unscrupulous people are impersonating them to steal data and information from customers with an alleged bonus given by the company saying it is for their anniversary.

According to D1, through false incentives of 400,000 thousand Colombian pesos, they offer the unwary a bonus and then defraud them on behalf of the company.

The information is being disseminated through chains of the WhatsApp mobile application and various emails, in which they offer a gift card to customers, with the aforementioned amount.

To become a creditor of the balance, assures the supermarket chain, the criminals ask the victims to spread that information in groups of the application and pass it on to at least 20 friends; in the requirements they must fill in personal data such as address, telephone, etc. and it was what the organization clarified: they seek to obtain data from users.

After the doubts of several of the buyers, the company gave way to the criminals and, through a publication on their Facebook account, they warned the clientele that, for now, they are not offering any type of promotions, so the information is false.

Likewise, they denied that they are asking users to evaluate them through a URL or link on the perception they have of customer service and warned that this type of tactic could violate their computer security, cause anomalies to servers or cell phones and cause inconvenience in the unwary who fall into them.

GRUPO SUCCESS ALSO WARNED

The criminals are posing as the supermarket company 'Éxito', assuring that they are company officials and telling them that they will earn 500,000 Colombian pesos through gift cards.

The authorities have warned of this practice and ask citizens for restraint, even more so, given that millions of Colombians are about to receive their mid-year bonus.

THIS IS HOW THEY EXECUTE THE ROBBERY:

Users, excited by the news, agree to deliver the data requested by criminals, who trick them by saying that these gift cards can be redeemed at any store of that entity.

The message usually comes with a link that invites you to enter. When the unwary enters that URL, he will answer some questions related to the brand and must verify his identity by leaving name, ID, telephone number and other personal information.

After verifying this information, the person will play in a series of ranks with which they will overcome levels. After this, they will ask you to send that information to 5 WhatsApp groups or contacts, finally, you will have to enter your data again, including email, and thus they will be able to access information that you have.
