Cybercrime in Peru is still on the prowl. But thanks to the complaint of a citizen, the capture of a criminal gang dedicated to cyber theft was achieved. They called themselves "The Elegants of Mercado Libre" , who supplanted identities to falsify, clone bank cards and payment slips.
They were found half-naked in an apartment located in Jirón Andrómeda, in the district of Chorrillos.
According to América Noticias, the members of the group were captured thanks to a citizen's complaint after an alleged deposit in the Mercado Libre application to buy a mobile phone that they paid for with a cloned card.
“They made a supposed deposit to me through the Mercado Libre application, but in reality they never made the deposit, it was practically a fraud. They had to deposit 750 [soles] into my account, but that deposit never arrived,” said the complainant.
The Dirincri agents managed to capture the scammers who were together in a small apartment. All of them according to police information are foreign citizens. In the place they also found credit cards, stolen cell phones, and identity documents obtained by a black market dedicated to this merchandise.
In addition, it is added that they would be part of a criminal organization dedicated to theft and cyber fraud on digital platforms. The case is under investigation by the Miraflores Depincri.
MAN REPORTED SCAM BY FAKE WEB PAGE

When contacting the alleged seller , he asked for S / 6,000 more to send the invoice via email . When the victim made the bank deposit, he was summoned to a point on the Panamericana Norte where he was supposed to pick up the car. But he never came.
STATE OF EMERGENCY IN METROPOLITAN LIMA AND CALLAO
The Council of Ministers agreed today to declare the city of Metropolitan Lima and Callao in a state of emergency for 45 days due to the increase in crime . The head of Advisors of the Senior Management of the Ministry of the Interior, Dimitri Senmache, confirmed the information and explained that those rights related to the inviolability of the home, freedom of movement throughout the country, freedom of assembly and freedom of personal security will be suspended.
"If the Police have information that, somewhere, there is a criminal organization or someone who has committed a crime, they have the possibility of entering that address without resorting to a judicial permit," the official said on channel N.
