Maintaining an attractive lawn isn't just about constantly mowing it, it's also about preventing intruders from constantly trampling on it. The grass grows greener on the side where no one walks. In fact, we have seen thousands of times how the city council tries to put up fences or warning tapes to prevent people from blocking their paths by stepping on the grass and prevent their dogs from stepping on it. Any measure is insufficient, people do not respect the lawn.
Well, this nice youtuber came up with a solution to solve this problem. It's a gentler alternative to putting the hose on citizens who don't keep their feet on the sidewalk. But instead of a hose, the trick uses already installed sprinkler heads.
His latest invention is what he calls 'an evil artificial intelligence' and it's a sprinkler that detects people stepping on his lawn and gives them a cold shower to put them back on the right track. Although given the recent temperatures in the US, it could actually be a blessing rather than a punishment.
This Machiavellian sprinkler only turns on when someone walks on the lawn. To create it, Ryder used a Raspberry Pi with code, a Wyze security camera, and a spray control valve. Ryder Calm Down programmed the entire system so that when someone walked into the camera's field of view, the sprinkler would turn on.
The creator also adds a note in the video's description that reads: "I made this for entertainment purposes only. The people you see in the video, including those portrayed as the audience, have agreed to be in the video prior to filming. I would not recommend you build something like this yourself, I just wanted to make a video that I found entertaining."
As seen on security cameras, people freak out at the sight of the water, causing them to surround the area and stay away from the grass. However, this supervillain accessory was built for entertainment purposes only, so you can't buy one.
Still, before creating him, Ryder made sure it was legal to spray people with water on the street. Despite the total legitimacy of this invention, in the thread that was created on Reddit, doubts arose about what would happen if someone was run over while going down the road trying to avoid water; so the 'evil sprinkler' remains a simple and fun invention.
YouTuber Ryder Calm Down is a tech wizard with a science degree, and the "people-sensing lawn sprinkler" isn't his first creation. The guy also built a machine that notifies him when a dog walks past his house because apparently looking at cute animals like cats and dogs combats depression and increases his serotonin and dopamine levels.
Then there's also YouTube's actual subscriber ringtone, their Vine machine that plays iconic phrases from the Vine app (known for its memes) at random when you pull a string, and other fun inventions.
