On the eve of back to school, Nestlé and its brands Nesquik and Trix released five tips to boost children's mental development for the new school stage.
Carina Castro Fumero, a pediatric neuropsychologist, commented that the main factors for mental development are quality sleep, maintaining a routine, managing stress, oxygenating the brain and a good diet.
For this reason, Nestlé highlighted the importance of ensuring that children eat an adequate breakfast that gives them enough energy for the school day. This being the most important meal of the day.
Options for breakfast include protein such as eggs and sausage, dairy such as cheese and milk, fresh fruit, oatmeal, or a serving of cereal, preferably made from whole grains.
“A serving of whole grain cereal is a great choice for breakfast. Not only does it offer a feeling of satiety, but it also provides vitamins and minerals,” said Patricia Vial, Nutrition, Health and Wellness Manager at Nestlé Central America.
Breakfast provides benefits to children, such as improved cognitive development, increased concentration, decreased irritability, healthier body weight, and better overall nutrition.
