The uses of the 060 are many. From information on scholarships or subsidies to payment of fines at the DGT.
We may receive information about calls for scholarships, grants, subsidies or prizes. We can also request information on the validation of degrees and studies, we can consult equivalences with studies offered in Spain or correspondence between other previous official university degrees.
We can look for public employment offers, sign up for selective tests, have information on pensions, benefits and subsidies or obtain information for the request for work life, the duplicate of the affiliation document, etc.
We can, for example, pay fines that we have made as long as we have the file number on hand. Related to the DFT procedures, we can also make a change of address of the car or the permit, we can make a duplicate of the driver's license or we can request an appointment for any of the headquarters or provincial traffic headquarters.
Calling 060 allows us to have information on the renewal of the DNI, on the deadlines or issuance of the passport or we can call to request an appointment for foreigners, for example. We can also request information on visas, on the long-term residence card or on equal opportunity programs as well as information on consumer rights, consumer claims or rights of online purchases made in the European Union.

From abroad
If we call from abroad we cannot dial 060 as if we do it from anywhere in Spain but the call from abroad implies dialing +34 902 887 060. But we recommend that you always try to search for information on the Internet or through other channels that the cost of the call from abroad is that of a 902 number and this can become excessive if we also add the rates applied for calling from outside the European area or from a roaming zone.
In addition, we must take into account that there are operators that do not allow calling 902 numbers if we are not in the country itself and that calls are restricted, so we will not always be able to contact and it is advisable to look for other ways.
Schedule
There are two types of attention when calling 060: an answering machine or automatic attention where we can follow the steps to find an answer without being answered. Or a person who will pick up the call to help us.
The number is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year with automatic attention. Or, with assistance from a specialized agent, it is open from Monday to Friday from nine in the morning to seven in the afternoon or from nine in the morning to three in the afternoon during the month of August. On Saturdays, specialized people serve you from nine to two in the morning and also on special days such as Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve.
Price
And what interests us most, how much is it worth? In the BOE of Friday, December 16, 2011, there is talk about the use of the number 060 as an information service of the General Administration of the State. The information begins as follows: “The General State Administration has the short number 060 for the provision of an administrative information service whose objective is the integration of all its telephone attention services. Through this number, citizens are currently informed about various procedures and procedures, specializing in information related to public employment and the Administration's directory.”
It is on this BOE page that we can find everything related to the price of calling 060 in point four: Prices of calls and messages.
The BOE says the following:
- Telephone calls to the assigned number will be billed by time
- The price may not exceed the corresponding price for calls made to national geographic numbers. In other words, from the fixed network with the fixed-fixed ordinary call price in the national territory and from the mobile network it would maintain the fixed-mobile ordinary call price in the national territory.
- The price of messages sent to the 060 number will not exceed the maximum price for the general service of short text messages between end users.
- The messages sent from the number 060 (...) will always be free for the receiving user.
And this means? Calling 060 has no extra cost. In other words, it will not cost you more than a normal call from landline to landline or from mobile to landline. But it's not free. If you spend hours calling, the call will cost you money, although it will always depend on what you have contracted, your rate or the operator you have contracted.
Something that we must take into account is that many operators do not include the 060 service among the numbers included in the flat rate. In other words, you may have a few contracted minutes that do not have any cost per month and that are included in what you pay each period. But it is possible that these special calls are not included in those minutes and are charged separately according to the rate you have contracted: a price for call establishment + price per minute.
