Mendocinos will be able to complete the 2022 Census digitally from March

The Mendoza Directorate of Statistics and Economic Research will carry out the census in May, but those who complete the data online will only have to show a code, which will save time and maintain COVID-19 protocols. How and when can it be accessed?

From March 16, Mendoza will have the possibility to complete the 2022 Census digitally: the Mendoza Directorate of Statistics and Economic Research reported that it can be done from any device.

Once the questionnaire is completed, a code will be generated that will arrive by mail and can be shown to the DEIE census takers who go from house to house on May 18, the day of the National Census.

This will save time for citizens and census takers, in addition to facilitating compliance with the COVID-19 protocol. A cell phone, computer or tablet will serve for each Mendoza to complete the required data, and the DEIE will designate free connection points for those who do not have access to the Internet, as well as special places for those who do not have any device.

It is the first time that this methodology will be used to respond to the National Census of Population, Households and Housing. The safeguarding of the information will be guaranteed through a strict computer security protocol that will store the data collected on the servers of the Empresa Argentina de Soluciones Satelitales Anónima (ARSAT), under data encryption and governance techniques (Law 17,622, Decree 3,110/70 and INDEC Resolution 181/2020).

How to complete it?

Los mendocinos podrán completar el Censo 2022 de forma digital desde marzo

Those who want to access this modality must enter the page https://censo.gob.ar from March 16. Once the form is opened, the unique code of the dwelling will be generated using the DNI number and the address data.

Then a digital questionnaire will be entered, which will have the questions that are necessary for the population and housing surveys. At the end, the proof of completion of the digital Census (alphanumeric code) must be kept to present to the person who visits the home on the day of the Census.

When is the census?

Wednesday, May 18, 2022 will be Census Day, declared a national holiday by Decree 42/2022.

Census takers will have the corresponding accreditation from the DEIE and INDEC, and will visit all private homes.

For those who cannot or do not want to complete the digital form, the interviewers will conduct the interviews in person, as in previous editions.

On the other hand, if the Digital Census was completed, only proof of completion will be requested. This is a 6-digit alphanumeric code that is generated automatically when you finish completing the census questionnaire. It can be downloaded, but it will also arrive at the email that is registered when completing the questionnaire.

It will not be necessary to print it, since the interviewers will be able to verify the code on the screen of a cell phone.

What is the Census for?

The National Census of Population, Households and Housing is the count of all the people, all the households and all the dwellings that are in the national territory at a given moment.

In the case of Mendoza, it will allow the DEIE to have an exact and up-to-date report on how many of us there are in the province, how we live and how we distribute ourselves.

The participation of the population is essential for the operation to be carried out. All people who live in the national territory have to answer the questions included in the census questionnaire (article 17 of decree 726/2020).

Foreign tourists should not be registered, but those who have been living in Mendoza for more than six months should participate.

On the recommendation of the United Nations Statistics Division, censuses should be done every ten years. Preferably, in years ending in zero, but this was not possible in 2020 due to the COVID19 pandemic.

The Census asks about sex and age, characteristics of the home and housing, health, education, migration and occupation, among other topics. For the first time, gender identity will be revealed.

The statistical information that emerges from the operation is used to design essential public policies in various fields. It is also used by people and companies to investigate, plan and carry out projects based on clear and up-to-date official information.
