In a new episode of Después de Mañana, Kike Mujica spoke with Nayat Sánchez-Pi, a graduate in Computer Science and CEO of Fundación Inria Chile, about artificial intelligence and the progress that it has had so far. today in Latin America.
In this regard, Sánchez-Pi pointed out that in the region "there is significant progress in artificial intelligence, there are important applications, academic and innovation poles, people with a lot of talent, but we are still far from being in a position to exploit the full potential of artificial intelligence.
Likewise, the expert made a comparison with the main centers worldwide that are dedicated to the matter, stating that "the infrastructure to support artificial intelligence is something really complex in the region." Along these lines, the CEO of Fundación Inria Chile said that the challenge lies in “insufficient investment in research, since Latin American countries spend less than average”.
“The problem, although there is better access than a few years ago to infrastructure and the conditions to deploy the full potential of artificial intelligence, is that the better artificial intelligence we create, the more resources we need. So it is the dog that bites its tail”, settled the researcher.
