The official data contrast with those of the COVID-19 Citizen Observatory, a network of independent doctors that follows the pandemic and reports 5,970 deaths due to pneumonia and other symptoms related to the new coronavirus, as well as 31,392 suspected cases of contagion.
In Nicaragua, 53 % of the population over two years old already has the complete pattern of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the authorities.
However, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) has located vaccination levels between 35.7 % and 38.6 %, one of the lowest in America.
Since the Nicaragua Pandemia began, it has not applied restrictive measures as part of the coronavirus fight, which has earned it criticism of the World Health Organization (WHO).
