More than two years of investigations, controversies and conflicting versions ended last Tuesday with the declaration of innocence of Felipe Muñoz, who was accused of having committed the crime of abortion without consent. Muñoz is known for the power and influence he wields as one of the most visible leaders of Los Del Sur —the massive Atlético Nacional bar—, in addition to sitting at tablecloths with mayors and executives as a member of the community tables of the Mayor's Office and one of the key players in the decisions made in Antioquia football.
Despite the questioning of several feminist organizations and leaders, who maintain that a gender approach was not adopted in the process, the justice considered that the Prosecutor's Office failed to prove that the renowned barista supplied Milena Uribe Restrepo with an abortion medication.
In the midst of a panorama marked by the decision of the Constitutional Court to review the decriminalization of abortion, the outcome of this case sparked a strong controversy.
While Muñoz's legal team claims to have a series of documents that cast doubt on the prosecution's accusations and allege that the victim's legal team seeks to win over public opinion in a case that failed on the bench, the attorney for Uribe asserts that, with his decision, the State is applying a double standard that violates women's rights.
