Summer Courses UMA 2021 The University of Malaga recovers the summer courses, face-to-face and free

The University of Malaga recovers its traditions summer courses, which will be face-to-face and totally free. In addition to the face-to-face format, and due to the necessary restrictions in terms of capacity, all the courses will be broadcast through streaming on the Zoom platform, so that they can be followed from anywhere in the country or abroad.

This year Ronda returns to host cities for the courses, which take place in Marbella (from June 29 to July 2), Vélez-Málaga (from July 6 to 9), Ronda (from July 6 to 9) and in the capital (from July 13 to 16).

Another important novelty is that the courses will last only two days. In addition to the traditional courses, this year's program includes master conferences, virtual courses (in collaboration with the International University of Andalusia), a round table and a new format, called 'Dialogues', which in this case will address the theme 'Artificial intelligence' with Nuria Rodríguez and Ana María Rodríguez.

There will be 190 teachers and speakers who will participate in this edition, the nineteenth, and the offer of face-to-face places is about 1,300. Among the speakers, top-level figures from the political, economic, scientific and cultural fields, including the CSIC virologist Margarita del Vals; the Vice President and Minister of the Presidency, Carmen Calvo; the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration José Luis Escrivá; the writer and former Minister of Culture César Antonio Molina; the journalist Juan Cruz; the writers Antonio Soler and Jorge Freire or Esteban Ávila, head of the Fiscal Service of the Civil Guard. The Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure Roberto Sánchez and the Secretary of State for Security Rafael Pérez Ruiz will also participate. Other protagonists are María Blasco, director of the National Cancer Research Center (CNIO); Sergio Rodríguez, CEO of Pfizer Spain; María Gámez, General Director of the Civil Guard; María Luisa Carcedo, former Minister of Health, Consumption and Social Welfare; Mar España, director of the Spanish Data Protection Agency; Leonardo Cervera, general director of the European Data Protection Supervisor, Aurora Rosales, executive director of the Teatro Soho CaixaBank, and Boris Izaguirre, writer, television presenter, screenwriter.

Participating in the presentation act were José Ángel Narváez, rector of the University of Malaga; Diego Vera, director of the FGUMA; Francisco de la Torre, Mayor of Malaga; María de la Paz Fernández, mayor of Ronda; Antonio Moreno Ferrer, Mayor of Vélez-Málaga, and Carmen Díaz, General Director of Culture, Education and Heritage of the Marbella City Council.

José Ángel Narváez has pointed out that the organization of these courses shows Malaga's commitment to the territory, not only with the capital, but also with the localities of the province where activities are carried out. He has predicted that society is heading towards "a new time, in which knowledge and science are the only way for society to prosper, as this pandemic has shown." For this reason, he has pointed out, the value of courses like these that invite reflection and analysis in search of a future "that is not the one we had in mind, it is the future of knowledge and science."

The courses have the main sponsorship of Banco Santander. The approximate budget is 220,000 euros. Those interested, both in the face-to-face and 'online' modality, can register now through the website of the General Foundation of the UMA. University students will have recognition of ECTS credits.
