What to do when your mobile does not turn on or charge

But we must not overlook the charging cable, which is as important or more important than the connector itself that goes to the wall. To make sure that it does not fail, we can test it with another smartphone or device. In this way we will leave doubts to find out if the fault is in our battery or in the point of union between the two.

Be careful with dirt

The problems that lead us to the mobile battery not reacting are often due to the fact that the battery or the connector itself do not come into contact with each other. In this case, what we will think is that there is dust, dirt, grime or another obstruction in the phone's charging port. To get out of this situation, there is nothing better than a quick blow, very carefully pass a pin into the connector and then try it again.

Battery Tests

If your Android phone won't turn on despite doing everything we've seen so far, one solution is to perform a battery cycle reset. For devices with a removable battery, it's as easy as taking it out, waiting a few seconds, and putting it back in. If your smartphone does not have a removable battery as it already does in most cases, press and hold the device's power button for several seconds.

Depending on the manufacturer, you should hold it for 10 to 30 seconds. The more the better, until some image or logo appears on the screen. This will not be impossible even if the mobile seems to have no battery, since there is always a small percentage of emergency left for these cases.

What to do when your phone won't turn on or charge

Then we reconnect the phone to the charger and wait a minute to see if the charging icon appears on the screen. If the icon does not appear or we see a charging LED, it means that the battery does not have enough energy to turn on or display any content on the screen. Let the phone charge for a few more minutes and then try again. If it continues to exit, the battery is dead. In case we see any reaction, we will have to think that the battery is fine and we will focus on the mobile.

Is the problem in the phone itself?

Even if you haven't thought about it, the phone can be turned on without you realizing it. It could be that the problem is that the screen is broken and does not show any image. Fortunately, it's easy to tell if the screen is to blame. To do this, hold the power button for 30 seconds to turn off the mobile and press it again to turn on the mobile and start the system.

Now wait for the smartphone to make a sound or simply call yourself from another number to see (if it's not muted) if the phone rings. Another way to verify that the screen is the culprit is to connect the mobile to the computer, if we are able to control it, this will mean not only that the mobile is not dead, but that we can take all the photos, files and important elements before get our screen repaired.

If even after trying all this, you still see that the mobile does not turn on, we can try to return the smartphone to its factory state. Perhaps the device powers on in this process, but cannot get past the boot process due to a corrupt update or improper ROM installation. In this case, you can try to reset the device by doing a Hard Reset.

  1. Hold down the power button and the volume down button for a few seconds until the Android logo appears on the screen (Miracle, it turns on!)
  2. Use the volume buttons to navigate up and down the recovery mode.
  3. Select Wipe Data / Factory Reset and press the power button to accept.
  4. Finally, select Wipe all data option and press the power button once more.
  5. Wait for the phone to reboot.

This should bring your phone back to life, but if it doesn't, We may be facing a hardware failure whose origin is in the battery or another component and it touches you, or take the mobile to be repaired or buy a new one.

We don't have to make ourselves worse, since sometimes the only thing that has happened and that the technical service will solve, is that the battery has been disconnected from the motherboard and is not receiving the signal. But these steps will be better left in the hands of professionals, since touching the battery, even with the right tools, can cause a short circuit that forever breaks the mobile and puts us in danger.
